Known for its past glory in creating some of the best Android phones, HTC announced at the Consensus 2018 blockchain conference in New York that it’s working on a blockchain phone called Exodus. The tagline for Exodus is ‘Let my data go’. The name and tagline play on the biblical story of the Israelite’s journey from Egypt to Canaan.
We’re quite unsure about why this is a blockchain phone. HTC’s site promises security and out-of-the-box cryptocurrency support. Exodus’ site says “Our vision is to expand the blockchain ecosystem by creating the world’s first phone dedicated to decentralized applications and security. With the release of the HTC Exodus we can now make this a reality.”
Exodus will feature a multi-currency crypto wallet – supporting Ethereum, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. HTC also promises to bring decentralised apps and says that ‘Every Phone is A Node’ in a bid to make phones part of the Ethereum and Bitcoin blockchain.
Concerning the specs of the phone and if there are any other features, HTC has kept mum. There’s also no idea what the phone would actually look like. The image above and an overview of blockchain features, is all that has been made public. We hope that it can bring its true promise of user-owned data, security and easy cryptocurrency transactions to the world.
