GMO Internet, a Japanese technology company has announced it will start paying part of its employees’ salaries in Bitcoin. GMO runs a bunch of internet-based companies ranging from finance, cloud computing and to internet advertising.
The company will pay up to 100,000Yen monthly in Bitcoin by February 2018. The offer is open to GMO’s almost 4000 employees in Japan and can be seen to be an extension of a Bitcoin exchange it launched in May this year. GMO also has plans to start Bitcoin mining in January 2018.

In the last few months, we have seen Bitcoin gain more acceptance around the world as more companies are accepting it for payments, securities markets are opening futures and more people use it to transfer monetary value across continents.
