SureRemit is a Nigerian startup that connects immigrants globally with merchants back in their home countries. It enables people abroad basically purchase vouchers for their family back home. The company has begun pre-ICO sale of a token which will allow immigrants purchase digital vouchers for goods and services. It will also allow them pay for utility bills directly on SureRemit’s platform.

Here’s a video explaining the idea behind SureRemit

The startup has explained that the cost of remittances is very high. Immigrants typically pay huge sums to companies like Western Union and Moneygram to facilitate the transfer of money. They also cannot control how these sums are spent by their loved ones. With SureRemit’s token, the transactions will happen on the blockchain – cutting the cost of transfers heavily and with the vouchers, ensure money is properly spent.
